An old friend of the family was on the same floor and had just been told he had 2 weeks left from untreated colon cancer. They think he had it a few years. There was a definite difference in atmosphere between the two rooms. One full of hope and one full of sorrow.
It amazed me how her onc. could come in the room, smile and joke with us after visiting a room where death was so near.
We are thankful that you choose this. We are thankful for your compassion. We are thankful for your honesty. We thank you for caring.
We know that no matter what the end holds, he (Dr. K) has done everything he could do to save her life.
Where would we be without doctors like you?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13503848.post-1161634860711475472006-10-23T16:21:00.000-04:002006-10-23T16:21:00.000-04:00The oncs I saw were for the most part rather blase...The oncs I saw were for the most part rather blase and ho-hum about the whole deal. Dog knows *I* was afraid.Pieces of Mindhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17055434638099045904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13503848.post-1161564967001260482006-10-22T20:56:00.000-04:002006-10-22T20:56:00.000-04:00As always, well said. We're loving the food choices here (and the weather, the dog parks, the hikes). Your buddy keeps muttering about going into private practice--lab life is driving him nuts at the moment. It's good to be reminded what private practice would be like.OTRgirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12433339525588500502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13503848.post-1161473182678374352006-10-21T19:26:00.000-04:002006-10-21T19:26:00.000-04:00everyone needs to mourn :http://query.nytimes.com/...everyone needs to mourn :
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9907E2D91331F935A35755C0A9629C8B63&sec=health&pagewanted=1Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13503848.post-1161417178965908562006-10-21T03:52:00.000-04:002006-10-21T03:52:00.000-04:00as a terminal onc patient i do appreciate my onc d...as a terminal onc patient i do appreciate my onc docs and im always sorry for them the news is never good - i couldnt do the job - thank god for those like you who canheadless cathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02790987056651237860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13503848.post-1161291815250656192006-10-19T17:03:00.000-04:002006-10-19T17:03:00.000-04:00I never realized that doctors can have the occasio...I never realized that doctors can have the occasional moments of doubt.
